Privacy policy

Account information. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), or the basic profile your sign-in provider shares if you sign in with Google. We also keep your organization's name, website and description if you add them.

Your content. The proposals, sections, figures, budgets, references, tasks, comments and files you create or upload, the solicitations you import, and the messages you send to the AI copilot.

Billing information. If you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details. We never see or store your full card number; we keep your plan, subscription status, billing dates and AI credit balance.

Usage information. Pages you visit, features you use, the device and browser you use, and approximate location derived from your IP address, collected through our servers and Google Analytics. When you use the free solicitation check without an account, we store a one-way hash of your IP address to apply daily limits.

Email preferences. If you sign up for the weekly funding digest, your email address and when you subscribed or unsubscribed.

• To provide Grantee: storing your proposals, generating drafts, figures and compliance checks, exporting documents and letting you share work with collaborators.
• To run your account and subscription: sign-in, billing, AI credits and customer support.
• To send you emails: account and billing messages, tips for getting started, product updates and the weekly funding digest. You can unsubscribe from everything except essential account and billing messages with the link in each email.
• To keep Grantee secure and working: preventing abuse, enforcing limits and fixing problems.
• To understand and improve Grantee: measuring which pages and features are used, in aggregate.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your proposals or other content to train our own AI models or to advertise to you.

When you use the AI copilot, figure generation or compliance and solicitation checks, the relevant content (for example the section you are working on, your instructions and the solicitation) is sent to the AI model providers we use, currently Anthropic (Claude) for writing and review and Google for image generation, to produce the result. Their use of that content is governed by their terms for business customers. AI output can be wrong: review everything before you submit it, and follow your sponsor's and institution's policies on AI use.

We share information only as needed to run Grantee, with service providers that process it on our behalf:

• Supabase: database, authentication and file storage
• Stripe: payments and subscription management
• Anthropic and Google: AI model processing, as described above
• Hostinger: website hosting, our workflow automation server and email delivery
• Google Analytics: website usage measurement

We also share content with the people you choose to share a proposal with, and we may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business (in which case this policy continues to apply to your information).

Our funding pages show public information about federal funding opportunities and awards from sources such as Grants.gov, NIH RePORTER, NSF Award Search and the DoD SBIR/STTR portal, including the names of funded researchers and institutions as published by those agencies. Results of the free solicitation check describe public notices and may be shown to every visitor.

We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and remember choices such as your active organization or a referral link you followed. Google Analytics uses cookies to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; Grantee needs its sign-in storage to work.

We keep your account and content while your account is active. When you delete your account, or ask us to, we delete your personal information and content within 30 days, except for what we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons (such as billing records) or to resolve disputes. Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule.

You can update your account details in the app, export your proposals to Word or PDF at any time and unsubscribe from marketing emails with one click. You can also ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal information by emailing ekaraaslan@grantee.app; we respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example in California, the EU or the UK), you may have further rights under local law, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing and to complain to your data protection authority.

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls that limit each account to its own organization's data, and providers with established security programs. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

Grantee is operated from the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Grantee is meant for professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
